Our comprehensive design, review, compliance, and claim services are arranged in three business lines—each with its own set of challenges and solutions. In addition, our team provides Specialist Program Management to ensure a smooth project process and exact technical execution and implementation of our recommendations.

System Review. Identifying Shortcomings in HVAC and Energy Systems
We have conducted numerous feasibility studies and conceptual designs of HVAC and energy systems. We designed the first displacement ventilation system in a central office to ensure reliable and efficient cooling. The reliability of equipment is dependent on the operating conditions. A poor environmental design can jeopardize equipment and interrupt revenue-generating services. Balancing environmental and energy requirements is our goal.
ANCIS has a solid track record of developing industry-wide standards as well as company-specific standards. Because of this in-depth industry knowledge, we can provide comprehensive summaries of today's environmental and energy solutions and forecast (roadmap) future directions, including liquid-cooled solutions.
Our founder initiated and led the development of NEBS GR-3028-CORE “Thermal Management in Telecom Central Offices” in his previous function as Principal Scientist at Telcordia Technologies, Inc.
ANCIS developed an extensive technical foundation for writing a new environmental and energy standard for a leading U.S. wireless carrier with global reach.
The largest telecommunications service provider in Scandinavia asked ANCIS to develop design guidelines for their next generation switch-room cooling topology.
We have participated in standard bodies working on related issues (ANSI, ASHRAE, BICSI), including writing ASHRAE “Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments.”
System Review
We have performed building audits, third-party design reviews, and code compliance assessments of data centers, telecommunications central offices, and other mission critical facilities to identify critical shortcomings in system design, operation, and maintenance. Our experts have analyzed and provided comprehensive solutions for improved electronic equipment cooling and system energy efficiency in many mission critical installations.
Our team has an in-depth understanding of the physical data-center, telecommunications central office, and other mission-critical environments, including spatial, thermal, cooling, energy, mechanical, and reliability issues. Our staff has expert knowledge of analyzing the indoor environment as well as energy usage.
Rack Cooling Index (RCI)® Services
These services are based on the performance metric RCI, which is a measure of how well the HVAC system cools the electronic equipment per industry thermal guidelines (ASHRAE) or standards (NEBS).
Return Temperature Index (RTI)TM Services
These services are based on the performance metric RTI, which is a measure of the energy performance of the air-management system in a data or telecom center.
Event Analyses
Adverse indoor conditions can be the result of various events including loss of environmental controls, inadequate HVAC design or operation, extreme outdoor conditions, damage of building climate barrier, building fire, or other disaster event. We have analyzed various events--real and engineered. We provided the environmental modeling expertise needed for a $50,000,000 electronic equipment insurance claim from a fire disaster.
For disaster recovery, insurance claims, and court cases, advanced computer modeling has the unique capacity of recreating the indoor conditions that existed during an environmental or disaster event. Without recorded data, modeling is often the only way of analyzing a historic event in a meaningful way. These services are an integral part of our aspiration to ensure optimal equipment uptime.
